Don't bother answering that - you weren't?
If you HAD been around I'd probably have been in the chase to beat Dearest to the prize.
From observation I think today's younger men are a bit better at 'taking it slow'. And interesting to se...This was so vivid and real. And interesting to see this perspective. I've read this kind of conversation between younger women. I've discussed this kind of thing (the different goals and paces of men and women in relationships) with Dearest and with my kids. But I don't think I've ever heard this from women in this chapter of life.

Here's what stands out to me in this story - the logical extension of a story I see around me in men in their forties and fifties. If you base your self esteem on your ability to have sex, what happens when that goes? No wonder Viagra has been such a big deal.

Relationship and attraction are tricky things - but they tend to be much easier, in my experience, if you do just as these wise characters of yours said - take it slow. And it seems like a simple thing to do - I'm always amazed that so many men can't manage it. I haven't been in a hurry since I was in my twenties. I enjoy the gradual build-up of electricity in the air, and connecting through the words, the eyes, the hands long before anything else happens. How can you want to skip that - how can you miss it? It mystifies me - as did the male subject of the story's conversation.Steve Emeryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08628329561652344403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2106506707783681962.post-50518640861561537302009-01-15T19:51:00.000+10:002009-01-15T19:51:00.000+10:00Hi PINKUI'm pleased you enjoyed the story. I really felt transported into their conversation like a fly on the wall. Great dialogue and descriptions. Loved this: “Velma settled her bulk more comfortably, in anticipation” and “Velma plumped herself around on one hip so she could look straight at her friend, sitting there on the lounge.” A funny, light read! It's fun to be featured and meet fellow Aussie bloggers. 65 has produced a lot of chuckles but I will never forget reading some of it at a writers' festival a couple of years ago. In the front row were three young men - 17 or so - and they couldn't bear to look at anything but the floor. At that age they can't imagine that people are alive after 30!
Cheers
JuneJune Savillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00194576632686640776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2106506707783681962.post-66709499052455544732008-10-29T05:38:00.000+10:002008-10-29T05:38:00.000+10:00Great story June.
